How We Started
We envision a world where every child is free, thriving, and protected from exploitation and human trafficking.
The Producer
Rachel Sparks learned about child sexual exploitation in Thailand while interviewing dozens of sex workers for her documentary, The Sold Project. Again and again, she heard the same story: poverty, lack of education, and limited options made traffickers’ promises dangerously persuasive.
The Neighbor
Tawee Donchai witnessed young girls in his rural village disappear because of trafficking. He shared his story in The Sold Project, along with his vision to protect children before harm occurred by keeping them in school and strengthening families and communities.
The Researcher
While researching human trafficking at Fuller Theological Seminary, Rachel Goble Hara identified a critical gap: most efforts responded after exploitation, while few focused on prevention.
In 2008, they founded The Freedom Story to stop child trafficking before it happens. Since then, we have worked alongside children, families, and communities across Northern Thailand to reduce vulnerability and protect children from exploitation.
